Department Description:

Detailed Description:

The Department of Sociology at the University of San Diego invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2020. The department is seeking a sociologist for hire at the assistant-level rank, with expertise in the following areas: emphasis on law/crime/justice and social justice; race/ethnicity scholar; quantitative methods (preferred). Other areas for consideration include: comparative local/transnational, intersectional, and expertise in line with our departmental concentrations. Must have Ph.D. in hand by start date.

The University of San Diego is strongly committed to a eacher-scholar model, and, therefore, only candidates with evidence of superior teaching and an active research agenda will be considered for the position. The undergraduate teaching load is three courses per semester and tenure-track faculty advise and mentor students. Service to the university, department, and a commitment to public sociology is expected of all tenure-track faculty.


Job Requirements:

A PhD is required at the time of appointment.
