We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Administrative Support Coordinator I, Sociology. We are seeking an exceptional individual who is organized, detail oriented and possesses excellent communication skills to join our team as an Administrative Support Coordinator I in the Department of Sociology. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
The Administrative Support Coordinator I for the Department of Sociology provides primary support and coordination for the Sociology Degree Completion Program and the Sociology Master's Program, as well as ancillary support for the department. Under general supervision, provides budget and travel support. Takes the lead in coordinating the SOQ process. Takes minutes at committee meetings, supports student organizations, learning communities, and other department programs. Assists with preparing documents for the tenure-track hiring process. Maintains and updates the department website and serves as the Department Information Technology Coordinator (DITC). Provides front office support during staff shortages. Uses knowledge of the department, college, and university to answer more complex questions from guests, students, faculty, and staff. Provides support for department events and meetings including Department retreats, Commencement and Sociology Day. Coordinates with faculty on scholarship applications and awards. Works with other department staff to monitor enrollments and issue permits daily during the registration process. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
High School diploma or the equivalent and four years of progressively responsible experience in general office, clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent. Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a range of technology, systems and software packages. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to handle effectively a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior higher education work experience, preferably in an academic department. College degree preferred.
